Fantasy In Death is the next installment in J.D. Robb‘s futuristic series about Lieutenant Eve Dallas and Roarke. This time around, Eve has to solve a locked room mystery when a gaming expert dies in the middle of a game, in a locked holo-room.

Once again, J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts has delivered an excellent, fast-paced story. I found it particularly fun since I love video games, and thought it all played out in an interesting way. Plus there was some really nice Eve/Roarke interactions that deepen their relationship, whch was great. While the mysteries in this series are consistently strong, I keep coming back to this series because I’m so in love with Eve and Roarke. Their relationship is constantly maturing and changing. I especially liked that it was Roarke who was more off-balance in this book, with Eve acting as the rock, since it’s usually the other way around. Can’t wait for the next one.

In Death series (there are too many and I’m too lazy to link to them all right now)

  • Naked in Death
  • Glory In Death
  • Immortal In Death
  • Rapture In Death
  • Ceremony In Death
  • Vengeance In Death
  • Holiday In Death
  • Silent In Death (short story in Silent Night anthology)
  • Conspiracy In Death
  • Loyalty In Death
  • Witness In Death
  • Judgment In Death
  • Betrayal In Death
  • Interlude In Death (short story in Out of this World anthology)
  • Seduction In Death
  • Reunion In Death
  • Purity In Death
  • Portrayal In Death
  • Imitation In Death
  • Remember When (“co-written” with Nora Roberts)
  • Divided In Death
  • Visions In Death
  • Survivor In Death
  • Origin In Death
  • Midnight In Death
  • Haunted In Death (short story in Bump in the Night anthology)
  • Memory In Death
  • Interlude In Death
  • Born In Death
  • Innocent In Death
  • Eternal In Death (short story in Dead in Night anthology)
  • Creation In Death
  • Strangers In Death
  • Ritual In Death (short story in Suite 606 anthology)
  • Salvation In Death
  • Promises In Death
  • Kindred In Death
  • Missing In Death (short story in The Lost anthology)
  • Fantasy In Death

By my count, Fantasy In Death is the 32nd book in the series, not counting any of the short stories or Remember When since Eve and Roarke only get half a book. Colour me confused, since J.D. Robb‘s website says that this is the 30th book in the series.

I have it as 30 on my list, too. I don’t have “Remember When” counted though. As long as I know I have read all the full books (no short stories) and have the current one when it comes out in pb I am happy.;)

Ah, sounds good, Cat. And you’re probably right about not counting Remember When. It’s also possible I just couldn’t count right when I wrote up the post…
