Sizzle by Julie Garwood
Sizzle is part of Julie Garwood‘s contemporary series featuring the Buchanan family. This time around, one of the Buchanan involved is sister Sidney, but she’s a secondary character in the story. The protagonists of Sizzle are Sidney’s roommate Lyra Prescott and Sam Kincaid, an FBI agent who saved Alec Buchanan’s life. (Side note: I’m guessing that readers are supposed to make the connection back to Julie Garwood’s historical romances The Bride and The Wedding, featuring the Kincaid clan.)
Lyra’s life is in danger after she unwittingly takes possession of something that a criminal would like back. Sidney’s brother Alec sends his friend Sam in to protect her after Sidney is attacked in their apartment. Romance and suspense ensue.
Once again, Julie Garwood puts together a fun and easy read. I generally prefer her historical books over her contemporary ones but I still really enjoyed Sizzle. I managed to finish it in one sitting. It’s nothing extraordinary but it’s still a nice story – a great way to pass a lazy afternoon.
